Version 1.8a = Bug fixes. (9/26/2023)
Version 1.9 = Corrected wrong directions in game, bug fixes. (4/8/2024)

Version 1.9 updates:
The game gives you wrong directions (USA version) when you're in the Desert of Death but have added an option to fix that (in the "Misc" page), fixed a couple bugs in the game where enemy stat searches for Angler and Thunder caused an error.

Version 1.8a updates:
Two bug fixes. 1st bug: If you selected "Items", "Healing Items", "Accessories" (and maybe others?) from the first page (Items/Battles) before you opened your ROM, the editor would switch the selection to "Weapons" (which is the default selection) when you actually opened your ROM, but it didn't switch everything correctly so you might have the wrong list, some boxes grayed out, etc. 2nd bug: If you selected the "Dragons/Faeries" page, it incorrectly showed the Faerie stats when it should of been showing the Dragon stats.

Version 1.8 updates:
Added a new "Misc" section for editing Celerity and Bonebreak timers, as well as lots of Casino stuff in the Faerie Village. You can edit how long before you can use Celerity or Bonebreak again (it's normally a 5 hour wait). You can edit the timer all the way down to zero hours, meaning you can use them again right away without having to wait at all. Can edit how much money you win in the Casino High/Low game. Can also edit your odds of winning the Number Guessing game, as well as how much it costs to play.

Version 1.7 updates:
Added a new section for editing Faerie stats (in the "Dragon/Faerie" tab/page). Can also edit how many battles are actually counted for each battle you enter (very useful in the Faerie Village, etc). The "Battles counted" option is on the first tab/page of the editor ("Items/Battles") in the lower right corner right below the Random battle section. Also fixed a bug in the Fishing page and a couple other sections where things were not getting fully patched (editing might only work in some parts of the game).

Version 1.6 updates:
Added a new page for editing Manillo Shops. You can get any item, weapon, armor or accessory you want in the Manillo shops. You can change what type of fish is required for the trade, as well as how many fish. You can also put Manillo Shops in fishing spots that don't normally have one, and edit what's for sale there. Note: Some of the Manillo Shop is only partially complete. What's there is 100% functional and you can edit lots of stuff, but I didn't include everything for editing. If there's enough interest, I may finish the rest of the Manillo stuff in a future update.

Version 1.5 updates:
Added a new Fishing page with 615 things to edit, including: Ability to put any kind of fish in any fishing spot, edit the length of fish needed for max points bonus, how much fight and stamina fish have, what kind of bait fish love/hate, how many points you get for the maximum length fish bonus, adjust points needed for the 13 different fishing ranks, adjust how fast the casting power meter moves.

There is a "BoF3 Manillo Shop Info" text file included in the zip file. It has my hacking notes for the Manillo shops in the game. I plan on adding a Manillo Shop editor in version 1.6

Version 1.4 updates:
Can now edit lots of Dragon stuff including Dragon stat boosts, Abilities, and AP costs. There are a ton of new things to edit on the Dragon page, and there are just too many for me to be able to test them all. If you find things that are mislabeled or wrong, let me know.

Version 1.3b updates:
Added Balio and Sunder to the list of enemies, along with a message that shows up if you go to edit their stats. Fixed a bug on the Enemy/Boss page where you would get an error if you clicked on a certain sequence of enemies.

Version 1.3a updates:
Removed Garr from the long list of enemies since he's included in the other list. Also removed Balio and Sunder from the list of enemies for now. Will try to add them back later once I get things figured out with them. Also note that the search feature that lets you type in a name and search the lists of names has a small bug where it will sometimes find a match in the list but won't always bring it into view. Will try to get that fixed.

Version 1.3 updates:
Can now edit 23 different stats for every enemy or boss in the game. This includes items dropped or stolen, as well as drop and steal rates.

Version 1.2 updates:
You can now edit the stats for all 17 masters in the game. The text that's displayed for those stats will also match whatever values you entered in the editor. Have decided to leave PSP support out of the editor for now.

Version 1.1 updates:
Added tons of stuff to edit for all of the characters in the game. Had problems with the PSP version, so the editor no longer supports PSP ROMs. I know what the problem is, so will hopefully have it fixed soon.

This program lets you edit lots of stuff in your Breath of Fire 3 game, and you can then patch the changes into your ROM/ISO.

Should work on PS1 (PlayStation 1) USA and European versions. It should also work on most hacked versions, as long as they use the USA or European ISOs.

IMPORTANT:
If you're using this editor with a previously saved game, make sure it's an "in-game" save file, and NOT an emulator save state. A pre-existing emulator save state will often not show any changes you patched into your ROM, but a previously saved game that uses an "in-game" save file will almost always work.

Names/items that will have problems with PS1. Note that all of these will give you a warning message and won't allow you to edit anything that will cause problems in the game:

Flash Shells = PS1 (USA) Won't find
Artemis' Cap (accessory) = PS1 (USA) Won't find
Blitz = PS1 (USA) Won't find
Fire Whip = PS1 (USA) Wrong stats
Ammo = PS1 (Eu) Wrong stats
Horseradish = PS1 (Eu) Wrong stats
Thunder Ring = PS1 (Eu) Wrong stats
Flame Strike = PS1 (Eu) Wrong stats
Confuse (2nd occurance) = PS1 (Eu) Wrong stats
Counter = won't work on any version (finds the wrong match)
Noting = only works on 1st occurrence in USA version, doesn't work on Eu version
Healing Herb = only works in "Healing Items" (not Abilities)

With Healing items, ISO address 2 = 1st address for how much HP is restored (there are 42 occurrences that get patched).

As of now, the healing items restore HP amount only works in battle (does not work out of battle yet). May add that in a future update if there's enough interest.

IMPORTANT: Editing most of the items in the game will not cause the description text to change. Example, if you change the attack power of the Dagger from 4 to 20, the Dagger will have 20 attack power and will cause more damage, but the description text will still say Pwr4.

When patching, you can decide if you want it to create a new ROM or not. If you do make a new ROM, the program will automatically add "Patched" to the end of your file name, which makes it easy to remember which file was patched, although you can name the new file anything you want as long as it's not the same as the original file name. This keeps your original ROM safe.

If you edit Whelp so he has Meteor Strike, he may have a minor problem at the very beginning of the game (during the second battle in the mine). After the battle, the screen will wander for a ways. You can esily fix this by using the directional buttons to move the screen back over Whelp and then pressing Start.

There are some Help/info buttons in the editor that should answer any questions.

Shouldn't need any additional files if you're using Windows (uses the .net framework).

Many thanks to all the people at RHDN that provided lots of useful ideas and information.
